Dr. Michael Zubkov
Dr. Michael earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic degree from Northwestern Health Sciences. While at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities he majored in Physiology. Before becoming a chiropractor, Michael spent two years gaining experience and knowledge working as a personal trainer. During this time, he worked with a diverse range of clients through both individual sessions and group classes which has helped hone the approach to a tailored approach to his clinical care here at Minnesota Movement.
During his experience at Northwestern Health Sciences University, Michael completed a year-long internship at the Human Performance Center, where he gained valuable hands-on integration of how to work with a wide array of athletes. Additionally, he worked on the Medical Staff Team as a sideline chiropractor at various sporting events, including football, basketball, and roller derby.
Dr. Michael's specialty is in sports rehabilitation and exercise. On the treatment side of care, he employs a variety of manual therapy techniques in his patient treatment, including instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, static and dynamic cupping, and muscle release techniques. But as an advocate for empowering his patients to be their own best advocate, he also incorporates progressive exercises along side the clinical care into his treatment plans to enhance strength, mobility, and overall function for his patients.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Michael maintains a very active lifestyle. He loves practicing what he preaches by staying busy with Olympic weightlifting, rock climbing, and running. His background in martial arts includes disciplines like Hapkido, Taekwondo, and Jiu Jitsu. In high school, he was a member of the track and cross-country teams and also competed in tennis and fencing. Furthermore, Michael has advanced certifications in kettlebell training, acquired while working with leading experts in the field of kettlebell mechanics.
